Absolutely you can do self study!
The quality of your study is dependant on the teachers lecturing you, and the quality of the materials you use for your learning. Presumably you wanted to come to the UK to study, either because of a lack of quality colleges in your area, or because you feel that the UK lecturers are better.
If you can't make it to the UK, you can have alternatives.
1) Learn on your own, with study textbooks. I would advise against this, because the amount you will have to pay in delivery of these textbooks is great. 2) Learn online with electronic materials. Tony (the author who set up this site) does a lot of these E-books for your ACCA study. (I was once a student of his - brilliant teacher!). this will save you a lot of money in place of heavy textbooks. 3) Learn online with a distance-study programme, where you can also interact with the lecturer from time to time via email, and submitting mock papers for marking etc. You won't have actualy live interaction with the teacher, but you will have distance discussions, back and forth. 4) Use an online video tutorial programme. Many colleges now are becoming global, offering online video lectures for studnets to login and view. This is usually coupled with some form of tutor support and contact via email.
These would be your best options if you cannot have face-to-face lecture time.
