ACCA to give helping hand

Too many ACCA students failed to show basic understanding of depreciation and accruals in the F7 paper (pass rate 28%), according to ACCA director of education Clare Minchington.  In an exclusive interview with PQ magazine’s editor she said that F7 examiner Steve Scott was deeply disappointed by the June results (see below).  Minchington also stressed that it wasn’t even that students were narrowly failing - this is, she admits is a major failing!

The ACCA, however, is not being complacent and plans to introduce a ‘package of support’ to help improve pass rates in this paper. The same was done for F5 when pass rates dipped.

The pass rates of optional papers were also very low. She felt that these are a much more practical test. That means students who lack this ‘experience’ could be struggling with the papers.
