Ernst & Young switch
The English Institute was celebrating this month after Ernst & Young announced its is going to start training some of its students the ICAEW-way again. The firm had put all its PQs in the ICAS basket, but no longer. The Institute also revealed that despite the credit crunch it now has the highest ever number of firms training outside public practice (in business). It’s students can now be found in Goldman Sachs in London and New York, deutsche Bank, RBS, Barclays and JP Morgan. It appears that there is a problem, however, Chief executive Michael Izza is concerned that some district societies are still giving out the message that it is not possible to train outside practice. Overseas the message is also positive with a target of 1,000 international students likely to be achieved in 2010.
