The greatest football tournament in the world kicks off on 12th June and ends on 11th July. Now if you are a CIMA student who sits your exams in May the rewards seem obvious – work hard and reward yourself with a month long football fest! CIPFA PQs also have perfect exam dates for football fans – 2-10 June. You have to feel sorry for the ICAEW students who have exams on 14, 15 and 16th June. Now those dates don’t actually clash with England games but it would be hard to justify watching the game just a few days before an actual exam. But it is the ACCA and AAT exams which really full foul of the World Cup timetable. The ACCA exams run from 7th June to the 16th. The AAT is 14th to 18th June. England’s game against Algeria is very nicely timed for the evening of Friday 18th. PQ was onhand at one exam hall, a day after Liverpool won the European Cup (it was some time ago). Those wearing Liverpool shirts were very bleary eyed to say the least! “Well it did go into extra time,” one student told PQ. PQ would love to hear from students who have opted to miss out on the exams in favour of being able to concentrate 100% on the football! Email graham@pqaccountant.com
